UNESCO Trust – Education for Children in Need

UNESCO Trust – Education for children in need supports children worldwide with its projects and provides them with access to education to offer them the opportunity to develop themselves. Since 1992, the UNESCO Special Ambassador, Dr. h. c. Ute-Henriette Ohoven has dedicated herself to this crucial UNESCO program. So far, the UNESCO has brought more than 379 projects in 97 countries to reality.

Help to self-help is the focus for all the projects. This is because only through the development of a professional qualification can short term survival aids become a long term kick-start for the future. So that this is transformed expertly, UNESCO has the disposal of experts from around the world, as well as the partner organizations, with which the UNESCO Trust works together, on location.

During its project travels to the crisis regions and developing countries of this world, the main focus for Ute Ohoven is to give children in need a greater sense of hope for a safe future. With the UNESCO Trust, this is made reality through the establishment of schools, child homes, orphanages, and hospitals; and with the cooperation of the local agencies and authorities new educational programs and learning methods are established.

Worldwide, over 46% of the children in the developing world have no chance for education. Shortage in schools, development centers, insufficient financial means in families, early marriage, or child labor, are the most common causes for this. We need to take action to do everything in our power to change this circumstance. By joining forces with the UNESCO Trust – children in need, the Trust is fighting for greater awareness and support in Germany, because together we can achieve a world with greater fairness and provide the desperately needy children with a way to a secure future.
